Have you missed me? I’ve missed you! Every single one of you. This last week has been pretty eventful. Since my last few posts have been about Kaiser, let’s talk about him first.

I know you have all been very very worried about my little wonderdog. I took him to see the specialist that Dr Doi set me up with, and he worked wonders. First of all, we had a little talk about how I do not have a lot of money, and is there any way we can work out a payment plan or something. He ended up making cuts here and there to my final bill, and it ended up $65 less then it rightfully should have been. Not earthshattering, but it made a big difference to me. So yeah. Awesomepants.

The specialist did a little cytology scraping because he was afraid of some special kind of mites, but we came up clear on that one. We left with steroids (yeah, my little dog is getting his swole on), crazy strong serious antibiotics, and a special fancy-pants doggie shampoo. The steroids get him buff enough to take on inflammation, the antibiotics get rid of whatever ridiculousness is attacking my little guy’s face, and the shampoo fixes his super dry itchy skin. For real. He’s had like doggy dandruff. After one bath, his coat looks like the dogs at the fancy-pants dog shows. It’s all shiny and healthy, and his dry itchy skin is GONE. Also, it’s been five days since he started his new pill regimen, and his eye looks SOOO much better. it’s still swollen, but now the skin is a grayish-pink instead of bright red, and it’s not all crusty and itchy anymore. Yay! Kaiser is getting better!!

Next, you may not know this, but I have my very own beauty specialist in the house with me. Kathy (of the previously mentioned Kathy and Jeff) has got mad skillz in the cosmetology department. She’s awesome with nail art, and does my fingernails and toenails in little rad designs. She’s also good with hair and makeup, and since I’m not bad in all three of those departments, having her here is like a superpower or something. We just leak fabulous every where we go. While we were running errands yesterday, I found a tube of pink hair dye for $9 and brought it home, all excited. We did the bottom half of my hair, plus some streaks this morning, and it turned out pretty nicely. I was going to have it done in a salon in a few months, but why pay (literally) like 10x the price (plus tip) when I can get it done for free here at home? Right. That’s what I was thinking. I’ll take a picture the next time I actually go do something and my hair doesn’t look like I don’t own a brush or a mirror.

For those of you that don’t know, I used to be a gym rat. A huge one. The military did me a huge-mangous favor and messed up my back pretty badly, and I avoided the gym for two years. TWO YEARS. I went in and did spin classes still, but that was about all I could handle. Today was my first day back. This is monumental, my people. I immediately started into the light version of my old routine. I used to do 20 or 30 minutes on the stepper (I HATE the stepper. HATEHATEHATE… but it works), then go lift weights. Today I got on the stepper and set the timer for 20 minutes, jacked up the levels, and did… 10 minutes. Exactly 10 minutes. I almost died. I have severely overestimated my level of fitness, you guys. Then I went to the weight room and did chest and shoulders. Usually I would pair chest and tris, but I did shoulders because I despise them, so I may as well get it out of the way. I heart triceps exercises, so I can save those as a little reward for myself at the end of the week.

Now I’m at home, and feeling very self righteous. The gym has never been my happy place, but it’s nice to have that sense of accomplishment and legitimate exhaustion at the end of the day.

Kick it’s ass, girl. I actually have been doing a weeny, tiny bit of running. So far, so good. Not going to break any land speed records, but it feels good to do something. Got to get an MRI on my back next month to see how much shittier is has gotten since we all started concentrating on my neck. Glad you’re back in the saddle and glad that the Wonderdog is feeling better.
